Elie Sergio
Founder and soul of Nature Tour Madagascar:
The story of Nature Tour Madagascar begins with me, Elie Sergio, its founder and the person behind its vision. I am a trilingual Malagasy professional, fluent in French, English and Italian, and I see myself as a bridge between my homeland and travellers from around the world. I was born and raised in in the east coast of Madagascar, surrounded by the extraordinary nature of this island.
From an early age, I developed a deep fascination with wildlife, a passion that has remained with me throughout my life. More than ten years ago, this passion became my profession when I decided to dedicate my career to naturalist guiding and sharing the wonders of Madagascar with visitors.
I specialise in Malagasy wildlife, with a particular focus on observing and identifying endemic species. Over the years, I have developed a deep understanding of animal behaviour and a strong ability to locate even the most discreet creatures in their natural habitats.
For me:
Guiding is not simply about showing animals to travellers. I want to help people understand what they are seeing, where to look, how to observe and why each species is unique. Every encounter with a rare chameleon, every lemur moving through the canopy and every unexpected discovery in the forest is an opportunity for us to experience Madagascar’s biodiversity together. I share my knowledge with enthusiasm, patience and genuine passion, always aiming to make each observation meaningful and memorable.
When I created Nature Tour Madagascar, I wanted to build much more than a conventional tourism business. I wanted to create a service that reflects who I am and what I believe in: professional excellence, respect for nature, personalised service and authenticity. Our approach is based on creating experiences that are carefully designed around each traveller’s interests, whether they are passionate about wildlife, photography, birds, reptiles, chameleons or simply discovering Madagascar’s natural heritage.
Today, I work with trusted local professionals and partners who share our values and commitment to quality. Although I am supported by a network of experienced people, I remain personally involved in the creation and development of our journeys. I carefully follow the design of our itineraries and the experiences we offer, becauseĀ I want every expedition organised by Nature Tour Madagascar to reflect our philosophy: authentic exploration, respect for wildlife, a genuine connection with Madagascar, and a commitment to making the most of every moment in nature. We believe that our clients should be able to explore at their own pace, while respecting their energy and physical comfort. Rather than rushing from one place to another, we prefer to give you as much time as possible in each location to observe, discover and truly experience the wildlife and natural environment around you.
For us, Nature Tour Madagascar is not simply a name or a business. It is a way for us to share the Madagascar we know, love and continue to explore. One wild encounter at a time.
